Who knew when Eric bought this used album for four bucks that it would lead to a web site five years later. Okay, this isn't the sole reason for our web site, but it was the beginning of the vision. Rick Rubin fell in love with Fireside and had them record, and they even played Lollapalooza. It's too bad all the hip angst ridden kids didn't buy this record, we might not have had to deal with this whole rap metal crap. Maybe Kristopher sang it best in the opening lines of 'Smokerboy', "Situation died, hopelessness arrived." This hopelessness modern mainstream music is experiencing has no end in sight.
At the time we didn't realize they even had a first album. If it wasn't for the first five songs on this disc, we might not have ever continued listening to Fireside. These songs are as powerful as anything Quicksand ever did, and for a while we thought this album was the record Quicksand never put out. Although, the rest of the record doesn't live up to the first half, but it will suffice. The artwork of this album is ingenious, and helps give you a feel of their creativeness. The beginning of this album is powerful, so don't say I didn't warn you.
