My Metal journey started back in the 80’s when I was an awkward tween in Indiana. It started with bands like Ratt and Dokken, progressed to bands like Savatage and Priest, and fully blossomed when my dad agreed to let me buy Reign in Blood on cassette as long as I didn’t sacrifice any animals (true story). Though we both enjoyed both subgenres, I was more of the Death Metal guy while Eric was the Thrash King.
I got involved with Firesideometer when Eric came up with the idea and asked if I’d like to contribute. I’ve been along for the ride ever since and consider all of these fellows family. Now I’m just an educator who shocks the resident metalheads in their Cannibal Corpse shirts by asking whether they’re Team Barnes or Team Corpsegrinder.
